GE Blog:

The meeting started at 12:10. Our Sergeant at Arms Sreedevi Daithota opened the meeting with the mission of the Toastmasters club and the pledge of allegiance. She also represented as the TMOD. We celebrated our theme Holiday.  She shared with us what the Holidays meant to her.

The Quote of the Day: Success lies in doing not what others consider to be great, but what “you consider to be right”. The word of the day was bespoke meaning – made to individual order or custom made. Sreedevi offered us the challenge to “Live in the moment.”  Sreedevi shared with us how dressing up and dance inspired her to live in the moment.

Our Joke Master Katie Patton told a very funny joke that captured the spirit of our theme Holiday. Fred the Dad called up all the kids with the story that he and Mom was getting a divorce only to throw us in the end with the fact that Mom and Dad was merely playing a joke on the kids just to get them home for the holidays.

Alvin Mungin delivered his fourth speech How to say it titled “Story Time.”  He mesmerized us by drawing us into the story before revealing the title of the scary Movie”The Exorcist.”  He carried us through his small town and made us feel as though we live there too. The suspense leading up until the bitter end before learning the psychological drama had such an impact on his life was captivating. Vicki Robinson completing her third Advance Communicator project “To understand interpretive reading” delivered a favorite old time Holiday story “Twas The Night Before Christmas”.  She was dressed in her Christmas hat as she sat and read this old time great. She also educated us by giving us some unknown facts of this 1823 poem. We learned this poem had two authors, Clement Clark Moore and Henry Livingston.

Shem Orwenyo challenge the team with some inspiring Impromptu questions that also stayed within the theme of celebrating the Holidays. Camik McNeil, Shawn Toombs and Bonnie Smith all responded with great answers.

Paulava Carr-Morris took over for the second half of the meeting as General Evaluator. She explained her role. Before introducing the evaluators, Paulava elaborated on the theme and shared how the spirit of the holidays was one of her favorite times of the year. She related to Alvin’s Scary Movie dilemma and how the poem Twas the Night before Christmas was one of her favorite stories she read to her kids. Bonnie Smith gave a very good overview identifying positive as well as constructive feedback to Alvin’s great speech. Camik McNeil pointed out the great vocal variety Vicki delivered in her speech. As GE, Paulava gave a detail overview of the meeting.
